Murals

The multidisciplinary team of art and cultural scholars as well as technologists and a film maker at the Centre for Cultural Heritage and Tourism Studies (CHATS) in the International Institute for Art, Culture and Democracy (IIACD), Bangalore will steer this investigation in collboration with Prof. S. Settar and other scholars of the Heritage Sciences Programme at National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS). Founded in September 2008, CHATS is a heritage and tourism policy and practice research centre. Besides heritage and tourism policy and practice research, its art and cultural scholars as well as film maker, art and design residents research and practice have focused on the tangible and intangible heritage aspects of Indian art, crafts and textiles incluing ikat weaving, Kalamkari, Kinhala arts, terracotta pottery, beadwork, dalit tales and songs, Bahurupis, puppetry, Gond art and other visual and performace heritage arts and living traditions, vernacular architecture and other building arts, manuscript paintings and murals in world heritage as well as other sites in Southern India, Gujarat, Orissa, and Chattisgarh.
